Check the MOCCA manual and tutorials, i'm not into CA so i can't give you a precise answer but basically i've heard it's really simple and powerful in R8.

It's about as easy as it gets--which is not all *that* easy. And yeah, you can control just about anything with sliders.

Anyone can compare Momixer with Lw's motionMixer?

The question really should be (in my opinion) - can you reuse char rigs and motion clips created on that rig?

*edit* - clarification...can you reuse them with *other* meshes is what I meant.

Yes, i guess it is easy but you need some experience first and yes, you can use sliders for different parts of the body. Check this http://www.tools4d.com/downloads/visual_selector.avi

Rigging is really hard work. I would say the possibilities are as follows:

hard
Really hard
Really really hard
Damn near impossible
You'll lose your sanity

And I would say that currently Cinema falls about in the middle. Really really hard.

XL8 added some features to make things easier, but imo much remains to be done to make rigging easier. The bone tool needs alot of work. Posemixer is powerful but quite complicated to set up in hierarchies. Xpresso gives you alot of options that weren't previously available. SIK requires you set up-vectors for every SIK bone in the chain, and is not a little complicated. XL8 was enough of improvement (from say "You'll lose you sanity" to just "really really hard") that I can now rig a character and get it to behave as I never could before, but I still wouldn't call it easy.

However, if you're like me and believe that the rest of Cinema makes it worth the extra effort required to rig in Cinema, and plan to do even a little animating, then I highly recommend you get Paul Everett's Visual Selector plugin. It makes working with multiple targets and a large bone chains so much easier.

I dont think so, you could say driving car is really hard too. Yes, everything could be better but xl8 tools are good for rig character. Thats my opinion only.

Paul Everett's Visual Selector plugin

Do a lot of people use this plugin. From what I saw this plugin is used to allow for better organization of a rig. Are things that dis-organized in c4d. Can't you lock certain bones to the timeline? How does c4d's timeline compare to maya's. Is at the same level or does it still need a little work?

Was the plugin made for earlier versions that didn't have bone x-ray?

Thanks

No, things aren't disorganized at all, Visual Selector is a very new plugin made to simplify things. ILM saw it and made one for Maya too. C4D timeline is really good, some people said me they prefer it to XSI timeline too, but i'm not into animation so i can't tell you my own thoughts. Try the free demo and "touch it with your hands".

XL8 is a big improvement, but there is still lots of room and much need for yet more improvement, imo.
