Looks good, great resembling.
Now go a step further. Instead of using the eyedropper try to found you the colors, or better, use different colors but trying to keep the resemblance with the original. Then use no reference. Then, paint with the monitor off :D j/k
Graphire 2 are great, and cheap.

you're nuts! :) With the monitor off?? No way man.
I see the point about teaching myself to find the right colors, without 'cheating' but I also suspect that I'll have to do a lot of eyedropper joggling in production environment.
I've done my share of painting with real paints and brushes and the fact that you can mix paints instantly with a click is such a freaking mind-blowing discovery! What a time saver... well, then of course, there is impressionism... talk about RGB palette! Hmm that might be interesting...

eyedrop in the prod environment, yes. as a rule, no! try a monochrome image next.
