Hey guys, I wonder if anyone can help me out.
Here's what I have: I have a med-poly cargo plane with control surfaces (ie: flaps, rudder alerions etc.) for a home project.
What I want to do: Allow the control surfaces to rotate so that they rotate about the edge of the surface. So that a perfect rotation occurs. Scripts sliders control the rotation for animations.
What I've done: Right now I positioned the pivot point of the moving part along the rotating edge as best I can manually. But since it is done manually, it will never be exact. Rotation might be off by a couple of degrees. Since the edge is bent in the x and z axis, it is harder to position exactly.
QUESTION?
Is the a way 3dsMax can rotation an object about one of it edges, meaning that one of the rotation axis are EXACTLY aligned along that edge I would like to rotate it.
I ask this because at work I use Multigen Creator to create low polygon airplanes. Rotation of objects can easily done by making objects rotate along an edge, no matter what the orientation of the object. This is done by taking a center point at vetex 1 and axis of choice at vertex 2. This ensures that the object is going to rotate about that edge. All done in 3 clicks. Knowing max is a more powerful Engine than Creator, I'm sure that this feature exists in 3dsMax.
I hope I am clear enough. (note this is for any version of MAX)
Thanks guys.
