Animate a Wolf howling in AE?

Just say I have a black outline of a wolf and I want to make it howl using AE, would I have to draw every frame or is there another way to do this? Smoothlyis the aim.
Just want the wolf to tilt its head to the moon and roooowwwlll!

Assuming your contour is a single path, you can copy&paste it from Illustrator to AE on an empty solid, then animate the mask shape. Use the Stroke effect to render the actual contour.
