I tried to do this tutorial, but it asks to do this : http://www.motiondesign.biz/sss_3.html
But it wont let me fill in: Assing a 'PARTI-VOLUME' Node to the MR Volume Shader-Node

It says it cannot be found.
Someone have any tips about this?
Thanks in advance!

What you have to do for this is to create a new parti-volume node instead of typing its name in, because when you type in something, Maya assumes the node already exists and tries only to connect it, but since it doesn't exist yet, it tells you it can not be found.

So now, you're asking how do you create a parti-volume node right?

You have to click the checker icon that is right next to the Volume Shader field you need to assign. This will open a create render node window. Look on the mental ray tab for the Parti_volume button and click it.

If you don't see a mental ray tab in this window, then you have to set an environment variable manually in Windows named MAYA_MRFM_SHOW_CUSTOM_SHADERS and set its value to 1. (It seems that the mental ray for Maya installation 'forgets' to do this sometimes).

If you don't know how to set an environment variable, then do this:
Go to the Windows Control Panel, then to System. Go to the advanced tab and look for the Environment Variables button. On the section named 'System Variables' click on New, type MAYA_MRFM_SHOW_CUSTOM_SHADERS for name and 1 for the value. Click Ok as many times as you need to get out of there and restart maya.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more help settting it up.

Are you sure that the version of maya that you have has that?
