paint effect brushes programming

If I'm not mistaken, you do not need to do any programming for creating a custom brush for Paint FX. All you have to do is tweak each of the hundreds of parameters on the brush settings window.

Maya's manual library can get you started, look at this page:
\\Maya_Directory\\docs\en_US\html\UserGuide\Painting\peBrushSettings3.html
or any other pages in the Painting section of the library.

I don't know if there are tutorials or any other documentation out there, but anyway, trial and error is the best way to learn here. Just see for yourself what each parameter does.

Under Tubes - User Mel Scripts there are Creation Script and Runtime Script.

Using these you can tweak PaintFX` brushes behavior.

See Willow brush. It uses leafDroop script.
