Hey all,

I'm trying to create a UI that points to a file after I have selected it through a fileDialog.

Here is a sample of the code I have:

global proc fileDialogLookup()
// The fileBrowserDialog is iffy to me, not sure if this is the correct usage
{
fileDialog -directoryMask "C:/myDocs/Projects/*.ma";

fileBrowserDialog -m 1 -fc tfUp;
}

global proc tfUp()
// This is where I have a textfield update proc(this doesn't work)
{
string $fileName;

file -import $fileName;

textFieldButtonGrp -e -tx $fileName textFieldName;
}

Any help is appreciated.

use the fileDialog.mel script...it is cross plateform and better.(though I don't remember directory masking off hand)...also see Rob the Bloke's mel file handling tips on his site....

www.robthebloke.org (http://www.robthebloke.org)

but I don't understand what you want to do...do you want to open an existing file and read it's data or save a file to be read later...??

Someone else had a similar problem a little while ago. See if this thread helps:
