WhiteMeat 02-10-2003, 01:50 AM having trouble making volumetric lighting the way i want it...attmepting to put a dusty look in the air, can someone give me a tutorial link, or give me directions on the best way to do it without it having a really thick look to it?

I would look into doing godrays in post. You can spend days getting proper godrays because volumetric light is so damn slow. There are may plugins for all the major compositors that do them in seconds and you dont have to wait 5 minutes between slow renders to see the changes.

What are godrays? Is there anyway you could describe the process, or point me in the direction of some tutorials or docs on it?

Godrays is another name for volumetric light( Usually when light shines through clouds or something like its comming from god).
Genarts makes a bunch of 2d compsitor plugins that do them, plus many others:

or you could make them with geometry and a glow which render super quick, although if something passes through them you won't get any shadows happening..
