Here is my first 3d character, he is currently in NURBS despite the poly hands and feet. I just threw some base textures on to get a feel for his look. He design is influenced by the balrog creature as well as the terrasque from D&D. Any comments or opinions, as well as a direction for getting this guy converted for texturing and animation, are welcome. He has a rig with bones which i will try to post soon.

You can't link images this way.. not just upload them to the server.

I copy and pasted your links.. your creatur eis looking pretty good.. I have no specific comments though.

the images arent working for me,
try to make a account at angelfire and use that to upload your pictures, thats what i do from now on since the forum only has 20MB

Looks pretty cool! The procedural skin texture and dark lighting make it tough to see the actual anatomical details of your mesh though. The skeleton attached to the rig looks really cool though! Did you build that skeleton model or download it from somewhere?

All right people, I got the images uploaded to a friend's server so now they work! The skeleton was provided for me in the class I am taking so no credit on building it, however I did have to size the bones to fit the creature and the rig.

Very cool!

You wanted tips on texturing it, here's what I'd do:

1.) Print a side view of the creature very lightly
2.) Draw the texture/scales on top of it in pencil
3.) Scan the drawing and use it as a texture.

From there, you can use Photoshop to touch up the texture and colorize it. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at the quality of the result. ;)

Okay I got the hands and feet connected now that Ive been converting all of the NURBS over to polys so there wont be any seams. Im just about to bind the creature and ive done a few test binds just to check it out. Im going to be working on some custom texture maps too so I can scrap the procedurals! Ill try to post some pics soon!
