Title: Pherone - Heavy Metal
Name: Viktor Kalvachev
Country: United States
Software: Painter

This is Eve, the main character from the comic "Pherone" I am working on. Episode one is coming in a couple of weeks in Heavy Metal Magazine. This image was a part of the official press release from Foundation 9, but it was pretty small. So here is a bigger version.
In this panel from page 16 Eve is shown as a belly dancer. Since this is a flash back scene I wanted to create a magical feeling around her. I used pencils and then just a few layers of color. Since most of the comic book is black and white with flashes of color the flash back scenes had to go well with it and in the mean time be a lot more lively and full of color. So I decided to limit the colors to 2 general hues, but have a lot of variety of the brushes and the intensity. I hope you like it :)

I like how the dancer is muscular instead of the normal thin and curvy women you see often. It a nice change of pace.
