View Full Version : render and email if abort
Hi at all!
I'm looking for a script which writes me an email if rendering is ready or aborted.
Could anyone help me?
Thanks.

There are a few e-mail scripts already present.
AE can email you when a render is finished (I haven't had a render fail during this so I don't know what it will happen upon a failed render)
File>Scripts...
email_setup.jsx
render_and_email.jsx
Tut here:

Yes, I know this works fine, but I have a hard renderjob and maybe some problems with my harddisk. Sometimes I have a fail, and have to restart for the next x frames.. Project is realy urgent and I must stand up in the night and go to the office if rendering is abort..
That's why I need the information about errors, getting a sms on my mobile..

They are the same. Even an aborted render is just anotrher way of finishing it (in AE terms). Just follow JohnnyRandom's suggestions. Everything you need is already there.

Even an aborted render is just another way of finishing it (in AE terms).
But I've tried an overflow error and didn't get any email. The script told me an error in line 63(?). I think it is waiting for the final rendering, if it receives an errorcode, it doesn't know what to do. And that is also my problem now.. Is there no way to fix this?
Thanks

You could try using Deadline fron Frantic software. They let you demo 2 free nodes, just use your workstation as a node, and have it send you updates, failures, and completions...

You can't Remote Desktop from home?

Errors are not aborted renders. An aborted render still means the render queue is finished, meaning that AE is still active, not hanging or waiting for user input. You cannot catch errors with scripts since there is no event that would trigger them (scripts are commandds, not functions). Where in Leipzig are you? Maybe we could meet and sort this out in a 101 chat?

I'll try, thanks.

Ah, I see. I'm going by train, so I usually don't get near that area, but if you're interested, a quick hop on the Bimmel might be worth it...
Cheers

Once, years ago, I made a short practical and got my first contact with cg and animation.. Today, I write a question in an international forum, get an answer from USA, Greek, and from Mister Albrecht aka Mylenium, my boss during the practical.. I can't believe this.. Looking forward to see you again.. You don't remember me, I think.
