View Full Version : z-pass out of maya in after effects?
halfknight 11-13-2006, 06:01 PM Hi,
Could somebody give me a hint, how I can use a z-pass (e.g. for depth blur) out of maya in after effects. It seems to me that the 3d effects are usable only with the rla format from max?

RLA, RPF and IFF actually (with varying success). There's nothing special to it - you apply the 3D effects directly to the footage. Just make sure they are the first effect on the layer or they won't see those special channels in some cases. If your channels are separate, you have to settle for other tools that work based on grey levels such as the Lensblur effect.
