View Full Version : 3D displacement map?
bugmenotpls 11-13-2006, 04:21 PM Hi there!
Can I do a displacement effect in 3D with AE 6.5 Pro? I only see horizontal and vertical displacement, is there an option for the Z axis?
If not, do you know a plugin that can do this? Cheap would be good, as I'm on a budget (and I'm on a Mac).
Thanks in advance!

Nope. It's pixels, not geometry, you know...

Thank you for your help! 3DLayer looks great.
I actually thought of pixels, though. I want to push the individual pixels along the z axis so I have like many tiny dancing pixels floating through the space. Can I do that with 3DLayer? Or is there another technique?

Does anyone have another idea?

sounds like you might want to try particles....
Do you have an example of the effect you are going for.
If particles are a viable option and you are looking at buying a plugin I recommend Trapcodes particular

you get a ton of mileage out of it, especially if you get away from the presets.
