I was wondering how long would it take you to post the reel here, so im glad its finally on line

My favorite piece is the cyberpunk mercenary and the fetus, they are realy bad @ss models.

Amazing reel! The amount of work at such a ridiculous high-level is simply stunning. You have so much work that you didnt even have time to show off...like the kingsley model...that is a sweet model and shown off the least-just shows the amount of high quality work you have!

There were some definite sexy names in that "Special Thanks" crew, one that totally stood out and THAT alone will get you far in, not only the industry, but LIFE!

But yah man, wicked ass fast shit, DAYUMN! Heard you were a fast modeler, and seeing these 5 or 6 or whatever models textured and shit, ****. I think you coulda knocked one of those models off the line and spent some extra time really refining one of the models to as close to real as you could. They are all great, but some extra time to really polish one off can really show how far you can really go, not just how fast you can get there.

Something that really bugs me about modeling reels is seeing moving stills. Really, use them as your intro with a title, but a camera move over a stil just really kills it for me. No need for it, it just becomes filler.

On the wire turn-arounds I'd make the wires pop more. Take down the contrast on the rendered layer in AE a bit so the wire overlay is a bit more legible. Sometimes the wire-turn arounds just look like proof that they are CG when they are meant to show off your know-how with topology/line-flow. The surgery model in wire-mode was uber fast as well, might want to let that get one full rotation in.

Yo Alvaro, awesome reel. That is an incredible amount of polygons for six months. All very cool models, I like the gunner and fetus the most. You know what I think about your work, so instead of putting more feathers up that place where the sun will never shine. I will just provide you with some slight critiques on your presentation instead. :)

About the stills, I like them but I think they will work better if you always keep the entire still framed. There are some black border lines in the frame which aren't really helping you right now. I think it will all look a little smoother if you make sure that you cut in on them while they are allready slightly moving. Don't start the move when the image is already in the shot.

About the order of presentation, Have you thought about opening with your cyborg machinegunner model? I think it is the strongest and most rounded piece in your reel. Not just because it shows a bigger variety in modeling and texturing (cloth / metal / flesh), but also because of the great volume and shapes of this piece.
Ending on a strong note will be in your advantage as well. It will leave a better impression with the viewer somehow. I believe that the bust you end with, was a quicky, even for your standards, hehe.
Maybe if you would change the order of your presentation to:
Cyborg torso, Fetus, Surgery, Bust, Fez Monster
Your reel would be stronger, presentation wise.

That's everything man. If you feel like never touching this reel again then no worries, It is a great piece in it's current state as well. Either way, best of luck on the job hunt. I will probably be back in Vancouver in January, if you are still around, let me know! All the best!

Amazing reel. Kickass stuff, really! 5 stars.

Though, I got some tiny feedback, heh, I'm not sure if I want to critisism another VFS guy, since the last time ended up in some crazy threadhijacking. Anyhow. I think the rotations are way to long, in all honesty I closed it after half the reel because I didnt had time to wait for the whole thing to load, and it was due to the long rotations in one axis mostly, i think, it bored me out to see one thing rotate sloowly.. then wire.. slowly, and so on, shorten it some on the rotations, and it'll be great. its better when the cameras moves slowly up the model, than rotation in place with stiff camera.

Alvaro, that is one intense reel. I think the characters are all interesting (and somewhat menacing :)) and felt like the editing and flow of the presentation just brought it all together so very well. Congratulations and great work...

First of all, CONGRAT for being on the frontpage!
Man the pre-final reel that I'd got a chance to see before the school finished was TOTALLY AWESOME already, but you still add one more model into it... this is CRAZY AWESOME!!!
Even my personal preference is not into Sci-Fi nor realistic modeling but I still enjoy watching your models since they're interesting and very detailed, have been able to see how fast you work is another reason why I like your reel.

More than that you've even shown the wide range of skills from concepts to models to post-productions and even music creations! (especially the music part is where I started admiring you, because you're not an artist who got stuck in only one spot and says that's his expertise).

I'm gonna shut up now and give you 5 stars.

Definitely one of the best modeling reels to come out of VFS. Definitely the most prolific modeler...it's amazing you did so many models yet not sacrifice the quality.
