View Full Version : 3ds mental ray and render elements

hi everyone. I just got an issue with shaders mental ray which I can't find the solution.
I am using max 8
see I just got a project building up a helicopter. The rendering result is nice but my boss still complaining it was not realistic enough.. .
the 1 st issue which I noticed with the rendering is the reflections..
they are too sharp. does anyone know how to blur it ?

I did try to render elements but , I just noticed that the object which got a mental ray shaders in it doesn't show up in the rendering elements. every elements : reflections .. diffuse.. specular.. why is it?? is it not supported or is it MR setting which I didn't turn on??

should I switch to vray if the rendering is still not real enough?

are you using mental ray shaders?? ive had trouble getting render elements working with mental ray shaders before also

if you want to blur your reflections in a full scene render you could use the metal lume shader in your reflection map slot, i think this may work with render elements also,

you coud also try lookng in the mental ray shader thread in the 3ds max specific section
