I reset max, and now the blue dots that used to mark the vertices in the vertex sub object level have disappeared....
Can anyone help me find my missing blue dots pls.

thanks.

by the way, when i turn "vertex ticks" on, I can only see them in my perspective viewport and they're still really tiny.

did you hide stuff in the subobject level ? cos there s also a hide/unhide function in it, which also works for vertices.....happened to me somewhen...and I was well confused... otherwise...no idea...
what happens if you load older saved states of the same model ?

still the same problem. I'm pretty sure its something in my max setup and not the file itself.

Have to walk the dog be back in 10 mins,,,,,,,,,,,,:p

hmmm......
when i came back from walking the dog, my screensaver had caused max to crash, i rebooted, restarted max, and lo and behold, yes you guessed my missing verts had reappeared.

oh well, all's well that ends well i guess.

the show end result toggle is in the modifyer pannel at the top when you select your poly. it looks like a test tube or soemthing

There's a bug in MAX 4/5 when using edit poly. Just delete any modifiers like meshsmooth from your stack, convert to an editable poly again and your vanishing verts should return! :) (unless this is a totally different prob :P)

Is it with all graphic cards or something ATI or Nvidia specific? I've never had this happen in OGL I think.

I got this sometimes but i don't have a dog to take a walk with. I used to work with editable mesh (hate too much stack in modifier), and if this happen, i simply make another object, align it with the old one (with all lost vertex), convert it to editable mesh and attach the old one, then simply delete the new object (using element sub obj) and all my vertex will there again.
