After a month’s worth of reading, I finally finished this great book. It took me another couple of weeks to choose a scene to work off of (there were so many to choose from). After much thought, I decided to choose a scene from chapter 22.

Judith Hoffman is in a hurry, Earth is on the brink of a catastrophic nuclear war and she has little time to catch her shuttle to escape Earth. Just beside the turnoff to Vandenberg Launch Center, Hoffman impulsively stops at a garden shop and buys ten pounds of seed packages. She throws $300 dollars at the store clerk, tells him to keep the change, and runs to her Buick.

The title of this entry is “There Was Nothing More She Could Do.” While on Earth Hoffman tried all she could in preventing “the Death.” However, she has been stripped of all authority by her Chief Executive and cabinet members accused her of actually causing the entire mess. There was nothing more she could do but escape to the only place where there was still hope… the Stone.

This is my first challenge and I am honored to be a part of such a competition with so many talented artists. From looking at all of the work done by other challengers so far, I can honestly say that this won’t be easy. Nonetheless, it shall be my greatest artistic endeavor. Good luck to everyone! I hope we can all gain some priceless knowledge from one another.

Hey Koichi,

These challenges are .. uh Challenging and I am sure you will learn alot of stuff along the way as I did in my first challenge.

Nice scene to pick, maybe you could show the Potatoe or the stone in the sky as well , just to show what she is rushing to . Good luck and have fun.

Here is a more defined version of my style frame. Once December hits, I’m going to shift gears into working in 3d.

Mike- Thanks for the suggestion, I did what you said with adding the potatoe and it definately adds more to the scene.
