I'm putting together a system for houdini, maya and shake and want to get the best card for these apps for under a grand. And I'm not interested in gaming for this box. so far i've narrowed it down to the 3Dlabs wildcat VP970 [~$750], nVidia FX 1000 [~900], ATI Fire GLX1 [~750]. has anyone used all these cards and can recommend one over the others?
also i'm wondering whether these cards are a big jump from the $400-500 range cards [VP870, quadro4 980, fire gl4]...?
