View Full Version : Object(s): Teapot
betelgeuse 02-09-2003, 03:25 PM Just wanted to build an environment around this teapot I built in Wings3d. Any thoughts on having the main light source coming from behind?

looks good to me, the only thing i would change is that it looks too clean, i realize that its meant to be pretty and clean, but a little tarnish would help it look more realistic, otherwise good job

>> a little tarnish
Do you mean more like some fingerprints or smudges? That might lend some more credibility to it. But I do want it all nice and shiny 8-)
I think the AA problems are jpeg artifacts.
Appreciate you guys taking the time.

Hey!
Excelent modeling in wings3D!:bounce:
Nice work.
Keep it comming :)
Best regards.
Well I would go with the good old 3 point lighting. This backlighting is a little strange looking, because we are used to see those shot lit from right next to the camera and maybe with a strong back light.
But modelling and materials look really nice. Maybe a little too much reflection for my taste. And those reflections could also be more blurry, especially on the cups.

heh, when I saw the title I thought that you'd rendered the default teapot in 3D Max.
That's a cool teapot though, me likes. The only crit I have is the texture on the teapot. Is it supposed to be a reflection of something or just the way it was painted, because it looks too smooth for painting and the wrong colors for a reflection.

bobba: Strata
JPG, Colt, Morlankey: Thanks. Here's good ole 3 pt lighting. Other than the fact that it produces some ugly shadows (inside the cups), I like it OK. DOF is slightly greater, too.
