Hello, I'm pretty new to this site, so I'll try to introduce myself a bit.

I'm a character animator, currently a student at The Art Institute of Philadelphia (Philadelphia PA), going for my bachelors in Media Arts and Animation. However, my main focus is toward gaming.

Currently, I'm in the process of forming a game development team with a friend of mine from high school who attends Rowan University for computer science, and is learning Java, specifically some areas of JOGL (Java Open-GL). We've been doing 2D games for a long time, and we're now experimenting with the beginnings of our group's entry into the 3D gaming arena.

The reason I'm here is because we're running into trouble finding tutorials and books on using the JOGL tools to import 3D meshes from other applications (primarily 3ds Max 8) and manipulate them within JOGL. The environment is somewhat new and not too many tutorials exist, as we've found.

If anyone happens to read this and knows of a good tutorial or book and can point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it!

By the way, if you wish to check out some of our older 2D games to see what we're all about, go on over to http://www.thegamespage.com.

Thanks a lot!

There is a 3ds importer in the jogl utils project.

Go to the jogl forum on java games, and you will find links to it.

Is there any way that you can give me a link to that? I searched it on google and couldn't find it.
