started an independant workshop in 3dsmax at my college, since they have no 3d modelling program but they do have software to do it and an electronic art dept. (really wish they would get some classes together) anyways, gonna try and make a short, heres concept of the character (i have no bandwidth on here :)):

The model itself seems to be going pretty good so far, but you would have been better off if you'd waited a little while until you'd complete some more of it.

As for your reference picture, it looks much to "sketchy" to be of much help to you. I'd suggest that you trace over the lines of the old picture in photoshop to give you a cleaner reference.
