View Full Version : instance control
darkmoon3d 11-10-2006, 09:52 PM Is there a way to control values in multiple duplicated or copied effects or layers? I have several 'fractal noise' duplicates on multiple layers and would like to be able to experiment with different values such as brightness, contrast, noise type, fractal type, complexity, blending mode and evolution without having to go through aproximately 20 different duplicates of 'fractal noise' effect.

Link them using expressions. You can use simple pickwhip linking for most parameters. You can't properly automate blendmodes, though.

That worked thanks. Still trying to figure out After Effects on a few areas. I created 4 Effect Controls sliders on 4 null layers. Realized it would be easier to simply have all 4 sliders on one null layer. Can't seem to figure out how to move each slider effect control to do this. Have tried drag-dropping them as well cut-paste with neither working. I'm using AE6. Is this easy feature not possible with this version?
