View Full Version : Vehicle: FNS-10 Mini Attack Submarine
CatsEye 02-09-2003, 05:44 AM Hey people!
First post here, I’ve been watching for quite awhile and considering posting something and now that I’ve actually finished something I figured I might as well!
Lots of great stuff here btw :)
This is an original design and my first real attempt at texturing (thanks to Wiro for his worn paint tutorial!) so ANY suggestions/critique on that would be greatly appreciated :) And yes it is stretched in places, stilling trying to find the best way to unwrap, again, any suggestions.
Thanks :)

Its lookin pretty cool. I like the texturing on it. Do you have that link to Wiros worn paint tutorial by any chance? I have not dabbled in texturing yet. Thanx. oh, any renders coming up as in adding water since you described it as a submarine? It could also pass as a flying car hehe. :buttrock:

Wow I really like it. The only complaint I have is the fins look a little sharp. How did you model this, or is it primitives?

Very cool modelling!!
Do you have a wire?
Model is very good, texturing awesome. Although I have one question. How can the guy, who is steering that thing, see the surroundings in front of him? From that picture I understand that he can only see what is on top of him and next to him.

looks good overall, however it is interesting that an attack sub has no weapons....
Now you need to put it in a nice marine environment attacking someting.

Thanks!
Talos, DanielJ: and here I was worried about the textures :D ah well glad you like it, and yes, looking at it now it could certainly have used more details.
Chan: Thanks :) I figured that underwater you can’t see far anyway, so when piloting the ship you just go off the view screens plus VR goggles which uses the pods in front of the cockpit to give a good all around view of the surroundings
Sephen2002: it does have weapons ;) torpedo tubes in front of the cockpit. The rotating array allows it to load quickly from the ammunition storage below the tubes and allows you to fire a large volley at one time.
eRDiCaT0r: yup, it’s on his site at http://www.secondreality.ch/
And yes! I’m planning on doing some underwater scenes, have to see if I can find a good tutorial for that :)
This was modeled primarily using splines & patches with meshsmooth. 174k polys. And a wire frame (not sure that this is the right way to render it…)

nice wire. It looks good
Do you also have a wire of before you meshsmoothed your model. That will give a better look to the way it is modelled. And I think I can learn of it :)

Sorry, no, I shouldnt have converted it to an editable poly after the meshsmooth, but I did, blah!
