hi folks.

I am working on a VW Beetle model here, and having some serious problems trying to merge ploy edges.

I started modeling using NURBS - got the general shape of the car set up - and then coverted my surfaces to polys.

now I am trying to merge edges so that I can tie everything together and then "soften" the merged edge normals. this worked just fine on several pieces, but now some edges just dont want to merge properly. they go all crazy when I try.

I am assuming this has something to do with the way that I built the original nurbs surfaces (dirction of the curves?), but I cannot figure out how to fix the problem. someting to do with the edge normals???

any help would be greatly appreciated.

you will find the normals are reversed on some of the patches whenever i do nurbs to poly convert i always check each patches normals before i combine the poly patches normaly about 50% are reversed once they all facing same way combine and merg and all goes well :buttrock:

i was bashing my head against the wall all night over that issue. all i had to do was reverse the normals. argh.
