Is there any informatin about how exactly game engines for sports games are created? Or any freeware sports game engines?

I've looked and searched for days and I can't find any information on the subject. Also, I have looked all over the internet for any freeware engines specifically for sports games, but all of them are for FPS. From what I understand, EA Sports and 2k Sports both use "in-house" created game engines. So there's no way I'll get a hold of one of those for my own personal use.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well... You should take some cheaper engine, like Beyond Virtual (150$), use their FPS template and change script so You can use it for sport game. They also have racing template. It is very easy to learn engine.
