Hey,

The problem is that i got a robot model to rig in 3DS max which is so heavy that it barely even pans in the viewport. Any proxy rig procedures/ideas I can use.

Any help will be appretiated,

Thanks,

Vikram

P.S: I might have to use Position/orientation constraints too so would like them to work in the proxy low rig if possible

hi floyd,

first and for all, press the "o" button for better viewport navigation with dense meshes.
second, check the skinwrap info in the help file of max, this basically constrains a high poly mesh to a lower poly mesh...
you could also lower the poly count on your mesh , put a skin on that and THEN boost the poly's with another edit poly modifier (this way you can enable/disable the "high res" edit poly modifier for better playback).
there are of course lots of constraining techniques but I'm not under the impression that you really need this atm. Normally you should be fine with one of the above...

cheers,

foane
