View Full Version : Lighting Tuts?
CelticArtist 02-09-2003, 01:52 AM Hey, i'm trying to setup my lights for my senior project right now, but i'm having difficulty, i'm mainly a modeller, but i want my lights to really well reflect the quality of what i'm creating, as well as give the whole piece a sepia tone, instead of full color lights. I'm using Maya, without any seperate GI systems, not even Mental Ray, i'm on school computers, so i can't install anything. anyone have any lighting setup tuts they could share? i know the simple stuff like a 3 light system for showing off models, but actually lighting a scene is much harder, i'm doing both an indoor, and an outdoor shot, Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys (and gals).

Wow, thanks guys, that tut from Carles Piles is amazing, it'll be a big help, on his gallery, he's even got an image with the type of lighting i want for my film, the Cine image with Chaplin posters and such. His tut was really easy to follow (unlike some i've read) i haven't had a chance yet to put it to the test, but i will asap, i haven't had a chance yet to read the lightwave one, but it looks good too from the quick glance i had, thanks for the help guys :)

Hey CelticArtist, if you're still having a hankering for more tut's then check out Jeremy Birn's site:

I also recommend his book- non app specific which is great.
