Hi everybody. i interrupt my last wip for this project that i need to do for some reasons.
i've always loved this bike so last summer i was making some low poly models to learn the process but i didn't have the time to finish it.

i'm not so good with low poly so few weeks ago i start the high-res model of the same bike. the old low poly didn't help me so the first attempt it's not too good

several parts conform the bike...this doesn't look like Kaneda's bike and i didn't have many reference, so i bought the movie:D and here are the results

all shaders done in Brazil rs just for test...

the textures doesn't look too good but i'll fix it later...right now i need some help with HDRI settings

for some reason i can't rotate the HDRI image in z...with vrayHDRI i can do it but i want to know how can i do it with brazil...how can i make the HDRI image smaller?? for this test i just increase the tiling but obviously the image looks distort...this is the result

too dark, i know...just to make my point clear...help please
the final image will be on the streets more like the mood of the movie, so this is just to learn more about render with HDRI.

Very cool , the model looks exactly as the original,
I'm curious to see the final shading, of course in the movie it was cel-shaded, but i've seen some other renders wich look too metallic, imo 'the bike for real pros' should be made of some hi-tech carbon stuff... ( blurry desaturated reflections, maybe?)
Have fun with the shaders, good work.

NiZu: thanks, i really don't like the cel-shaded look that why i'll try to do something more photorealistic. i think you're right when you say that looks too metallic...i don't know how to make a shader with blurry-desaturated reflections :shrug:

Hi, i wasn't clear:

Blurred reflections: in vraymat: reflections, turn glossines below 1
If i remember well about Brazil, it's called blurry reflections, it's in percentage. you have to turn it on (in material: reflections) (and it's much slower than vray)

Desaturated: bad/confusing suggestion, sorry :sad: .
I meant to suggest you to play with the color of reflections (maybe tinting it red ? would made it more like plastic..)

Brazil, has also that cool candy effect on the carpaint material.. (basically a different color tone based on a front/side fallof map..)

Argh! Why does everyone always do the project I want to start next! And do it way better than I ever could, at that. I just finished setting up the reference image planes in Maya when I saw this. What a heartbreaker, haha. Anyways, it looks awesome. I guess I either have to be faster, or come up with something original to model. Kudos! :D

Vaare:hahahaha...it happens...the other day i was thinking in making a carlos huante creature and someone already it's doing the same monstaer i wanted to make :shrug:...bad luck. thanks for your comments.

Nizu: thanks very much for your tips!!! i havent have the time to do some test but i'll try to make some this weekend...i hope you help me later :D...i don't know much about shaders.
