Is it possible to do camera mapping within vue 6 ?

I read that you could have reference texture planes linked to the camera or background images but does anyone know if you can actually do camera projection mapping right within vue ?

I asked that in Cornucopia forums and, though very nice, they didn't know what camera mapping was.

Thank you for your help,

Eric

Hi Eric,

Are you talking about match moving (camera tracking)?

If you are...Yes you can, you can use MatchMover or Syntheyes.

Heres a quick video of it working..

no, he's talking about photogrammetry-- the use of still photos mapped onto geometry to create 3d moves.

I'm not sure if it's possible in Vue 6 (am updating ASAP)

Oh..Sorry,

I have not heard about photogrammetry..sounds interesting..Off to google it.

calilifestyle..I have upgraded to Vue6 Infinite, but when its available, I will upgrade to xStream.

Ivan.

EDIT: Ive had a quick look at photogrammetry...I might be off track, but I have seen a tutorial where you can use a website to create terrains (Grayscale images to make terrains) from aerial shots.

Hi,
IvanB he`s talking about this (http://www.newtek.com/products/lightwave/tutorials/rendering/camera_mapping/camera_mapping.html), and as far as I can tell its not built in.

But could not that be achieved using xstream and setup the lets say maya tools to cameramap and render in vue?

well there´s always workarounds but cameramapping per se is not available in v6i as a built in feature.

Thank you for your answers.

Yes I was speaking of photogrammetry, not Camera tracking or matchmoving.

I guess it is possible to find a workaround by using max or maya synchro plugins but it would have been great to do it straight in Vue without the hassle to export/synchro/map/import/render in layers/composite....

Since Vue is used more and more for 3D matte paintings, this should be on their list of improvement I guess.

Could X-stream be the solution for that matter ? Add an ecosystem directly over the max camera-mapped landscape painting ?

Regards

Eric
