I've seen a Rhino tutorial about modeling a groove and applying a texture of a stitch to the groove. What I am looking for is an alternative to that for a higher rez (more photo realistic) solution. I'm in Maya and tried various paint effects as well as modeling the stitching. My own investigation has lead me to this thought: Is it possible to create a script to make a curve on surf, rebuild curve with uniform points and push and pull every other control point using surface normals and then extude a circle on that curve? This might simulate the actual thread possition between two materials. -in out in out in out- (no sexual reference).
