Im making a cityskape in max 8 and It pretty complex structure, the surface is greebled and stuff so basically is star wars coruscants like scape, not that complex yet though.
My problem is that i want to make the far depth of the city look fogy.
I tried Volume light, volume fog and fog but nothing gives me the exact feeling/look I want to have, like for instance in this picture:

If anyone could give me a hand on this would be very thankful!
Thanks in advance

Hi,

I wanted to achieve the same effect recently. After some fiddling I got a decent result using just the standard max fog.

1. Go to Rendering ==> Environment ==> add fog
2. Create a camera (max fog uses cameras and camera ranges) and go to the modify panel with that camera selected.
3. Check the check box for 'show' under the camera ranges section.
4. Go to the top view and into wireframe view and tweak both of the values for the ranges. The near range is where the fog begins and the far where is becomes thickest.

Try that out, you'll need to tweak a few settings back in the Rendering ==> Environment ==> fog dialogue box to get everything the way you want it.

It's a shame there isn't a 'make distance haze' button :(

Anyhow, I hope that's helpful for you,

Good Luck :D
