Hey guys,
Ive got a question on tiling textures. im working on a forest env in maya 7.0 and im on a tight deadline. I am using paintefx for the grass and which to create a gravel/sand looking tileble texture...much like the image im including of "open season"

My question is how do u create highquality textures that can tiled? I have to kill all my color values and contrast to make it look undistinctive...but when i do that....i loose the character in the texture and yeah...basically i have to bring my color values together so nothing really stands out. How do i do this fast? If i go in and remake the whole thing it gets really pain and i dont have the time...ive got a 3month school project due in 2 weeks and my team hasnt rendered anything yet :(

Also what node should i use to mix my textures together? 3d fractal? I dont know what can give me such results...ive been playing with noise and all that to no avail.

Lastly...is sand a lambert? Or does everything in real life have a lil spec. my sand looks really hardened and stiff.

Basically what do you guys recommend? i cant seem to get the desired results...look at the lon shot..it still looks tiled...the darker spots are the 3d fractal i applied with a slightly different texture. Which node allows a good mix like theirs?

any help would be great!
