Java, looks very convincing.

Something about the way the handle is attached dosn't look right. There is usually a lump or something at the join point because the cup and the handle are usually different pices.

The bubbles and steam are very good.

the rendering is really beautiful!!!
i like the bubbles too!!!!

i don't see problem with the handle and the body since many cups have smooth handle connection. yeah depends on type of cups, right?:)

but something i find curious is the area btw the transparent spoon handle and the dish edge. i don't know whether it should be a little bit darker there. :bounce:

but one thing, awsome!!!!

MODELING
Are the objects accurately depicted?
Are the objects cliché?
Are the objects relative to the scene/each other?

Score (max 10)___10___
this is probably one of the most simple yet realistic 3d images i've seen. it's like a friggin ad for coffee. i keep thinking that guy and his donkey are gonna walk into the frame...

TEXTURING
Are the textures believable?
Are the textures cliché?
Do the textures add realism?
Are the textures distracting?

Score (max 10)___9___
i'll go with a 10 for the surface of the coffee (nice bubbles!) but the mug itself is a little too smoothe/reflective. i've seen me some smooth mugs, but never one that smoothe! great job though.

LIGHTING
Is the lighting believable?
Does the lighting work for the scene?
Does the lighting set the mood?
Is lighting used to cover up poor modeling/texturing?
Are there effects used/not used that should/shouldn’t be?

Score (max 10)___10___
i think the background is awful bright, but it seems to work well with this image. the lighting reflects off the spoon perfectly.

PLACEMENT/DETAIL
Are the details accurate?
Are there too many/too few details?
Are the details cluttered/sparse?
Do the details mask a bad scene?
Are the details distracting?

Score (max 10)___10___
the right amount. not too many spoons or too much steam, not too few bubbles. that's one goofy spoon. where'd ya buy that, the virtual wal-mart? j/k. not much to say here... there's 3 models and something blurred in the fg. don't change it.

FIRST/LAST IMPRESSION
Does the picture make you want to look?
Will the picture stand out in your mind?
Is the picture blasé or cliché?
Does the picture get the point across?
Is the image constructed well?

Score (max 10)___9___
not the most dynamic of all pics, not that it needs to be. i'd like to see some different subject matter sometime... if it's half this good, it's still pretty damned good. it won't stand out as being dynamic but it makes up for it in realism.

Ok. First of all, its GREAT!:applause:
Not goin over what has been said, but for one thing: everyone seems to love those bubbles, but its the only thing i really dislike in the image. explain: being a coffe drinker as my self (lol), u get to learn that a good coffe does not form bubbles like that, it forms CREAM! So, the "creamy" bubbles u get in good coffe are much more light-coloured, not the same tone of colour as the dark coffe itself ... something like very light yellow-brown ...
but again, that's just me bein picky! AWESOME! congrats!:applause: :applause: :applause:

I don't believe it's 3D  :p The bubles makes the image realistic!

I have to disagree with Q_B, I think those bubbles are dead on!

I drink my coffee black, and I am looking at a cup right now, and I think that the coffee is perfect.

I would just like to know how it was done, and I would love to see a wireframe.

I love the depth of field and how the scene is canted... and of course.. nice steamy coffee... looks nice and realistic enough to me without going nuts.. lol.

My only squint is that the spoon handle looks as if it is welded off center and to the bottom of the spoon bowl itself. Most of the spoons I've washed have the handle channeling into the metal.. perhaps with a groove or edge work finishing of somekind. That and the plastic handle looks a little too flat and specular. Perhaps make it translucent as if it were made out of a really thick frosted plastic?

Looks FANTASTIC overall.. can imagine this being a magazine ad!

Very nice model, light usage, textures etc., but the liquid and bubbles are very realistic! I have seen so many cups of 3D Java, that one is the most realistic, nice work!

this is really nice, but the spoon kills the realism of the image for me. it seems too shiny/reflective for the rest of the scene and doesn't have the hints of grunge and wear like the cup and saucer do. it may be the style of the spoon as well, the plasticky handle just seems out of place given the style of the rest of the shot. this is being really picky tho, great work

wayyow man, this is so close to reality! if I would not know any better I would say, you just shot your desktopcoffee and put it online... chappo! :wip: wank wank I guess that spoon could be more real though, it looks too dusty, and the blue thats in the spoon is too blue as a matter of speaking, I guess changing that will make the render perfectoise!!

This is fantastic work!

I know this is supposed to be a crit forum but I can't believe how nit-picky some people are being! Maybe the spoon and cup ARE new!

I bet if I posted a photograph of something real it would still be picked to pieces by people demanding dirt and saying things are 'too blue'!! In fact I might try that just as an experiment!

I think its an excellent piece of work.........but maybe there should be 2 more bubbles on the left hand side of the bubble grouping and one less on the right!!!;) ;)

Ooooo I like it a lot

but......one thing bothers me...

The spoon looks like it's kinda floating. Just looking at the saucer and the spoon and i don't think that the spoon would be heald that way on the saucer it would have probably slid down beside the cup if you know what i mean.

Also on that note you could add a bit of coffee to the spoon and the saucer to indicate that it has just been stirred and that in the obvious way some coffee has attached itself to the spoon and then to the saucer when the spoon was put there...

what ya think :)

Great image though......and i gotta say it....LOVE them bubbles :) It's these wee details that add so much to an image
