Thanks for the link.
It's astonishing that in every test the Geforce4600 is better than ATI's Radeon 9700pro.

Do the higher numbers mean better performance??

OOPS spoke too soon.Just went over the benchmarks.I think I'll wait for the Geforce 5 or FX whatever it's called. I like the Fire GL 8800 for it's price and ability. We shall see soon enough.

Wow, now I see why everyone is turning their GeForce 4 cards into Quadros. I didn't realise the Quadros were SOOO much faster. I wasn't going to bother doing this with my new Geforce 4 ti 4200 but after seeing these numbers I'm compelled to at least look into it. Can anyone tell me what sort of a performance boost I can expect if I perform the hack to turn my Geforce into a Quadro? Will it actually perform close to a REAL Quadro or just somewhere between a Quadro and a Geforce. Thanks.

somewhere between.
not sure about quadro 4. but the ones before had faster ram..and clock speed...which you wont get with your 4200.
the one thing you WILL get is stuff like optimized code/procedures for displaying wires...having windows over opengl driven windows... etc. those types of things will be much faster than before.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to where I can learn how to turn my Ge-force 4400 into a Quadro 4 please.
Will there be a big difference in pulling and pushing wires when you get to 1 or 3 million polys for example comparing the 4400 to the converted Quadro? Also will it hurt my games on my PC when I change to a Quadro from my 4400?
Thanks for any help.

Here's a great tutorial on how to do the conversion:

As for games, yes, this will hurt their performance. I'm not sure by how much but it's a consideration. I'm not going to do the conversion with mine because it turns out that Lightwave (my main app) doesn't really benefit much. MAX benefits alot and Maya does to a lesser extent. I don't run either of those apps so for me, I'll just stick to the Geforce drivers. I've also read that doing the Quadro conversion makes TV out capabilities really bad for some reason. I have a TV out jack on my video card that I plan on using when I put my reel together so I don't want to compromise it's quality.
