View Full Version : glow effect in vray

i am trying to learn vray. i want to get a glow effect in vray, like neon light or lightsaber. second glow effect that i want to get is some light glows behind the ordinary objects, not lights. if you know a solution for these please tell me.

Do it in post. Another way is to create a duplicate of the object you want to glow and make it very rounded, and then apply luminosity and an incidence angle based falloff transparency to make the edges 100% transparent and not luminous at all. But the best method is to do it in post. Just render out all the stuff you want glowing in a separate pass, apply a gaussian blur and blend it in with the rest of the render. Piece of cake, should only take a couple of minutes.

Look in the help files for 2sided material. Combining it with vray lights is very effective. As for
the light saber, I agree with Captain Obvious, doing it in post would be the easiest way.
