Hi, I'm working with Maya 6 I'm having a problem with the skin on my hand model. When i bend my joint in a finger past a certain degree it'll mess up my geometery. I tried useing the membership tool and it woun't work. Can anyway give me some pointers, here's a picture of what i'm talking about.http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i32/bpl6738/hand.jpg

Its kind of hard to gauge what’s going on in this picture? Do you have a more lit picture, or screen shot in a different angle?

it could be a skinning problem? Maybe weights are painted somewhere else?

not sure, it looks like it has something to do with unbinding the skin from something that wasn't your bind pose, maybe revert to an older version, set all your controllers back to 0, then select the model then skin > detach skin. then proceed to switch to rigid bind.

also did you use undo or remove weights while you were skinning, that can also cause skinning issues that do things like that. When you undo painted weights, it doesnt do what you think its doing behind the scenes. You can also try this: select those specific weights that are messed up, open up the component editor, go to the smoothbind tab and see what joints they are weighted to.

just a bit of ideas
