Hi guys!

I have a questions about rendering plugin fo max.

I have heard of many plugin of this type (Brazil, FinalRender, Entropy an moooore....) and I have visited the home page of each one, but I don't understand nothing about their features :)

I just want to know what is the rendering plugin for max with the best performance......(don't worry about the price :))

thanks a lot

PS: sorry for my bad english :)

You won't get much performance out of Entropy - it's cancelled ;)

Reminds me to add my renderers page to my sig.

I won't comment on which renderer for obvious reasons - get a demo of each (finalRender stage-1 should have a demo when it becomes available), and try them yourself!

Omm...thanks...

I can try to download the demo version........ (I have a 56k modem :( sigh,so you can tell me what are the mayor plug-in, because I don't want to dowload all the demo version exixting in the world :) )

Ummm...in your site I saw that there are also stand-alone renderer, they are better or not than the plug-in?

:wavey:

Heya,

Right now for 3ds max there's three major rendering systems that are 'popular'.
As you can see on my site, there's many more 3ds max rendering plugins, and others available through exporters.

But the three (in alphabetical order) that are popular right now are :

Brazil r/s - http://www.splutterfish.com/ - sales@splutterfish.com to request a demo
finalRender - http://www.finalrender.com/ - no demo available, sorry
(opens popup)
V-Ray - http://www.vrayrender.com/ - http://www.vrayrender.com/demo
(resizes browser window)

Others you might want to try (free) :
RayMax - http://www.raymax.com/ - http://www.3d-soccer.de/raymax/raymax_form.htm
Luminaire Tools - http://www.maxshade.com/luminaire.html - http://www.maxshade.com/demo.html
VirtuaLight MAX - http://vlightmax.3dvf.net/ - http://vlightmax.3dvf.net/html/download.html

There's also a free version of V-Ray, available from the same spot as the demo.

Hope that helps!

Best regards,
Richard Annema

Thanks a lot!

Heya,

The reason why you probably won't find any 'benchmarks' is because it is very difficult to make a fair comparison.

Many of the parameters in one application won't match the parameters in another application.

Sometimes the whole system is even different.
i.e. a scanline renderer vs a raytracer vs a REYES renderer... there's really no way to compare them.

Same with GI things... many different algorithms.

And that's just comparing particular elements...
There's many more things to renderers which might make you sway to one or the other. This can range from features to workflow to support provided.

So, all in all, you really do have to do your own testing.

Best regards,
Richard Annema
