View Full Version : weird problem
Dipesh (India) 02-07-2003, 05:45 PM I am practicing character animation, but I only use character studio for my character animation work. What I want to know is does using character studio biped model for is practicing is equal to using a character rigged by manual bones.
So incase in future if I want to animate a character which is manually rigged , so at time does my experience with character studio model will help me.

Yes, but only to an extent. Learning to animate can be done with any rig.
But CS stores animation keys differently from most other rigs. Only in the latest version does CS allow you to adjust motion curves. Most other rigs have always had this ability. Experience in editing curves is important.
CS also has particular tools for anchoring feet and hands, copying motion, etc. The methodology behind most of these tools will transfer fine to other rigs, as long as these other rigs have similar capabilities.
Although many CS tools are only found there, so you should try to learn more Curve Editor-specific tools, because you won't be using with CS, because it doesn't support them.
There are tutorial rigs that come with Max. Try them out.
