Hi !
I'm getting strange, little black squares in my rendering. Here is example:

I'm using only native maya rendering nodes, FG and traced reflection (blinn).
It was ok for some time, and they appeared suddenly, not sure when...

any ideas ?

hi!
this is unfortunately a bug, tips: disable subdiv approximation nodes/turn off FG/some custom shaders bring out this bug

hope helps a bit

yeah, notoriuos little black bugs... try using another AA filter, also disable sample lock, and alternatively enable jitter...some shaders are also known to deliver such problems...back when i was dealing with these it was mostly because of the bump maps...

Yes, bump maps do it for me too, in particular with the bumpCombiner shader. I found that if I kept my bump value less than 1 they went away.

I had the same problem in maya and in max. In maya I had to turn dropoff to 0 on lights. In max those black spots were caused by materials with double sided checked. Maybe you have to check your models' normals...

In my opinion it's some kind of an internal mr bug, cause the problem went away when I changed the Acceleration method (under Memory and Performerance in Render Settings) from BSP to Grid - then the artifacts were gone (changing the values of BSP, or changing to BSP large didn't help), grid values need some tweaking to get the rendertimes back to the BSP results but it surely helped, without changing any shaders
as I was trying to find the bug, I noticed that the artifact is the size of the filter width/height
hope it helps
