Hey Wes--I think our children will have a definite edge in the 3d graphics field. My 3 year old daughter sits at my computer drawing cool stuff with my wacom pen in photoshop--which we then print and hang on the fridge. What happened to the days of crayons and cionstruction paper? :)

I want to start on some character animation but I really look up to it , I don't seem to get the basics. But I read about new tutorials coming up for MOCCA, so I'll stay tuned ;).

Today I had a friend over at my house, he's a dj, very good with keyboard, mixers, and pc's :). He wanted to make animations for his music. I showed him a lot today. I burned the demo, bunch of plugins, examples, tutorials and the complete documentation for him :applause:.

So we have yet another new Cinema4D user :buttrock:

You know what's weird about this (other than that I'm 40 yrs. old and still mucking about with 3D)? The vast majority of y'all are within 3 yrs. of each other--between 29-31 yrs. old! I have no idea what that means, if anything, but it seems an odd coincidence.

twilight
02-07-2003, 08:33 PM
It's not that surprising...
When 3D first appeared in the early 90's most of us were deciding what to do with our careers. So i guess 3D was the next big thing at that time (still is?).
Anyway, after 11 years in this business i can only say i still love it and i'd do it all over again.

As for the younger folks... enjoy it!! Being younger only means you have more time to play with C4D!!!

:)

LucentDreams

I'm a mere twenty

And as for the mention of how mature the 15 and 16 year olds are, I have to agree, why couldn't i have students like you guys 90% of my students drove me nuts. Especially these two girls both 15 who sit there and discuss everything in the world with their annoying "AS IF" tone and "OH MY GOD" expressions, and suddenly bring up a topic about how annoying theTwelve year old students can be and were they really like that when they were that young. All I could think is your still that annoying, was I ever that bad when I was your age, heck no.

I find is funny how all the Maxon employees are bringing the average down! As for why most are in the 29 - 31, how many are planning on making this into a career change? seems llike a typical age to do this.So have been doing 3D for five years, C4D for four almost five years now and loving it eveerry step of the way. Amazing how much its changed since then, and four versions in five years, thats awesome work guys.

I let my daughter have the mouse and I bring "zygote kid" onto the editor and let her move his arms around and stuff. At this point she literally is better on the computer than I was when I was 20 --and scratching my head in front of a mac classic.

Man... Aging is so futile, I mean the only reason why are cells age is because every time they divide a little piece of the DNA gets erased. Until you get to the point where your eating into too much of the necessary DNA for the cell to functionally divide. This is pretty much because our DNA is in a line, in a lot of microscopic organisms its round so they don’t have the problem. Another interesting fact is that as well as the ability to divide rapidly cancer cells for some reason have away around the erase of DNA and the divide limit. So when is someone going to cure aging? They better hurry cause I don’t want to get all wrinkly :)

Heh. Turning 40 in June, 3 kids under 9 years old. I'm digging the way they are turning to the computer and away from the glue, glitter, and construction paper. Much easier to clean up. :-)

LOL:) :) :)

on the other hand you might see what agedifferences you get when you compare C4D users, which is a broad userbase, but feeling young.... compare them to for instance Max or Lightwave, feeling SOOOOOOO old!!!!!

I considered starting a new thread so we could all see what we all look like--kinda weird having relationships with people on the forums and never knowing who they are or what they look like. I thought I would instead add it on to this thread as there are enough of these off-topic (but fun) threads springing up and the mods would surely dissaprove of yet another one.

So, heres my mugshot:
