Nice! Your shuttle looks really good! I suppose you're going to try more concepts, so I will not give opinions about for now. I see your painting is very good. I like your entry for the Spetacular challenge.

Here´s a rendertest of my model. I imagine a cloudy day and since the lightsource is paralell with the entire scene I can light wich areas I like.
GonzaloGolpe: Thanks mate, I´ll be watching you to. I´m allso gonna try a matte by the way.
LostPen: Thanks!
The sketches are really quick ones, about 10-15 minutes each. But I do alot of sketches and most of them look like crap so It took me a couple of houres to come up with these.

Hey Bjorn - (used your last name by mistake in my previous post!)
I was mainly referring to the central road element you added which covered up the canyon. I see you've since taken it out which gives a good feeling of verticality. Cool.

I like that sky, it is looking fantastic. I do think the buildings could use a little bit more character to them though. They're looking a little cookie cutter at the moment. Maybe some texture to spice them up and differentiate, but not too much so that they still flow together?

Looking really nice! I love the colors you're using, and the tech on your VTOL looks convincing and just the right level of futuristic.
I think your cockpit window read a lot better when the windows were darker, as in the second-to-last post.
I can't recall any more - was there even a NASA in the book? Or was everything just ISSCOM (and I have forgotten what that stood for too!)
Anyhow, good luck with it!

Falcor: Thanks alot, but go ahead and finnish your tuberider cos I will probably mess up this one.
Ginoshu, SonicX: Thanks guys!
musi: Some parts like the engines on the wings are untextured 3D-models that I painted over in PS.
Walrus: I will take your advice and make the cockpit darker.
The Nasa-logo.. I must admit that I only read parts of the book so that was just a guess. I have some research to do in my swedish copy of the book. Hope the translation is accurat.
Thanks for your advice!

here´s the final composition, more or less. Maby some clouds and lakes etc. have to try that first.
Now I have plenty of time to add details to the vtol.
Wow! Pretty cool work! really nice solid shapes and 3d construction in this image. Great work, nice colors and composition. Nothing really to crit, sorry.
walrus
01-18-2007, 01:32 AM
Wow! Someone was quite busy last night painting the landscape. Looks fantastic! Can't think of anything to crit there.
As for the glass on the cockpit (again! :) ) I think it looks better darker like you have it, but the hilights feel too diffuse and soft, which make it not look like glass. When I was working on the glass in my piece, it was SNoWs who commented to use sharper edges on the hilights because
...having a blurred reflection like it is now, suggests a porous surface
So I pass his sage advice on to you, because he was right on my entry and it makes sense for yours too.
Good luck!

Added more detail to the craft and some roads on the ground. Just a few more details and I chould be done.
I want to add some noseart like ww2 bombers but it might not fit this craft with a retro pinupart? Have to consider that. Maby I have a try with the stone-logo described in the book instead.
Thanks a lot for all kind comments!
and Walrus, thanks for the help with cockpit (again). I think it works better this way.
walrus
01-22-2007, 10:14 PM
I think so too. This is the best one yet!
I like the other changes as well, the decals (I don't think it needs nose art) and the changes in the propellors, adn the roads and everything.
The only thing I can think to add is a little more hilight on teh top of the hull and the left wing to make them pop from the background a bit more... not a full rim light (because I'm not sure what would be shining that light) but maybe just cheating it brighter a bit. But that's a real small nitpick, I'm only scrabbling for things 'cause you have a week left. For the most part, it looks pretty darned done! :)

Awesome painting! One little thing, I'd like to see the Flaw look a little more glowy; it is the main lightsource of the chambers after all.

Walrus: You have an eye for details! I´ve added a few highlights on top of the hull/left wing. Thanks!
ChuckWadey: Thanks for dropping by! I thought the singularity was like quicksilver and the light came from the tube surrounding it(not shown in my pic). But I could be wrong as I only read parts of the book.

I have 2 screens showing different colors here and I need to sort that out before I can upload the final.
ChuckWadey
