View Full Version : Blurred reflections
Supernova 02-07-2003, 11:26 AM How can I make blurr reflections in max?
I'm using brazil for rendering and real raytracing for reflections, no reflection maps...
Any idea how to make it look blurry?

Howdy !
well if you're using Brazil v1.0 i think it features blurry reflections (probably set that up in your materials), else you might want to add reflection maps or maybe you could add a little noise in your reflections...
Or you could try to use Combustion to do that, render your scene using render elements and rpf format, render out a reflection channel, then import that into Combustion and add blur on the reflection channel...
else ... anyone ?

Well for starter you COULD use max's own blurring in raytrace material/map BUT it's takes about twice your life time to accomplish. Dunno abou Brazil though...

I'd suggest reading up on the manual first, then if it's still tricky, posting your question on the Brazil forum for registered legal users. Brazil specifics can be a little hard to dig up here I think. Not impossible.. but certainly I think you'll have greater chance of help over there.

You could always just render in layers and then just blur the reflection in PS or AE. You might spend a little more time setting things up but it will save you some render time.

well, you could also put in a tiny procedural noise map in the bumpmapchannel, set it at 0.5 or even smaller and you will get blurry/glossy reflections.
this methode works for any rendering software btw.
it can look noisy, but tweak and it will look very nice.
cheers!
