why is 64 bit max 9 is better than 32 bit max?

i read that u can handle more comlex scences with 64 bit max 9,i dont understand how?

i think i could buy 64 bit computer with 16 gigs of ram and install 32 bit max ,and it will handle comlex scences with 16 gigs of ram,
if i am wrong correct me.

or

maybe the 32 bit max will use 4 gigs of 16 gigs of ram,if that true then how [before the release of max 9 64 bit] the cg film makers can handle those complex scences and all of this textures with only 4 gigs of ram.

help me plz

A 32 bit application can only handle a maximum of 4 GB, even if it is runnoing on a 64 bit system with 16 GB or more. Scenes that need more then 4GB need to be handled in 64 bit applications.
Realy complexe scenes are usualy split and done in parts and put together later in compositing.
