Hi everyone,
I have a question regarding Displacement maps for a brick wall texture in max 8 utilizing the brazil rendering system.
I am producing some architectural renderings of an old building that is to be renovated and have decided to displacement map my brick texture to produce a better result.
The displacement map will be hand painted, and I had planned to planer map it onto each wall separately.
The problem I have had in some rough tests that I have conducted is that the areas that I want displaced look fine but at the corners where one wall meets another wall is displaced out and the two corners do not meet correctly. So there is a gap basically.
Can anyone tell me how to carry out this texturing properly, should I unwrap the texture or use a different mapping method.
What is the neutral value for a displacement map. i.e. when that are is not displaced at all, can I use 50% grey.
Or would using a mask be a better idea.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
