aaronholly 11-01-2006, 08:42 AM FACIAL RIGGING FOR FEATURE ANIMATION (http://www.fahrenheitdigital.com/dvds/rigging/facial-rigging-dvd.php)
The Facial Rigging for Feature Animation DVD is finally shipping!
This DVD includes just over 9 hours of instruction in the same tone as the other two DVDs in this series (Rigging & Skinning for Feature Animation). Starting with a look at 2D principles and reference, this DVD covers two basic approaches for facial rigging: direct controls and blendshapes.
Various tools and techniques are covered for each, allowing you to mix and match to build the facial rig that best suits your pipeline and animation needs.

Should it warrant mention that this is a Maya-centric DVD?

Not really seeing as it was you that commented on this last time (unless I am VERY much mistaken)
Good job, looks awesome! Once I get acquintaded with Maya I'll be picking up the whole set? I take it this one uses the Maya 7 hotbox too?

Hey Aaron,
In the future, will there be a special package deal for the "Rigging for Feature Animation" series?
I would gladly purchase that if it were atleast $10-$15 off all together.

Will the same stuff be covered in essence in the forthcoming creature DVD's? Should people wait if they don't really want to pursue their cartoony skills?

If anyone hasn't checked these DVDs out .... I for one HIGHLY recommend them. Aaron's incredibly thorough in his workflow and coverage of tools, not just walking you through step-by-step (which he does), but also explaining all the options and the methodology behind WHY he does things the way he does. These DVDs are BARGAINS at 60 bucks each.... absolute goldmines of information.
Thanks for sharing, Aaron! And I hope these have been profitable enough that you'll consider making more soon!

I have the first DVD - on rigging. It is really good stuff and Aaron does a great job of explaining everything. I really got a lot out of it and am planning on picking up the next two.

These are the best tutorial dvds I've seen. I initially picked 'em up for the more advanced techniques, but ended up learning a great deal about the basics as well. When compared to other popular dvd sets, these really feel more like training material than just "let me show you all the cool stuff I can do and hope you learn something".
I'd like to see fahrenheit put out a texturing set next. Maybe a dvd like the intro sections on the rigging dvds.... bridging the gap from 2d to 3d animation. I see a lot of the feature films moving more and more towards the style of traditional animation with regards to how they're really pushing and exaggerating the principles.
