Dragon's are just so . . . out there in the realm of realism that it's hard to tell what's right and wrong. What kind of style were you going for when you made this?

Here is an update with more detail... As for going for a certain style,, it is actually a concept that my wife came up with.. It is going to be more of a character(female) than anything else. We are now creating a storyboard for an animation.. By the way I,m not employed at any particular place. I hope to work for PIXAR in the future though..

dare to post your pics

I canīt see the texturing for the pic is so cheesy

The side of his head looks bulbous, but othewise it's okay.

When I asked what kind of style I meant were you going for a cartoony/semi cartoony look, like a Bug-Life or something? Or were you trying to get a realistic look dragon?

And I agree with Mimo8, you need to upload some higher resolution pics, the current ones are far too grainy for one to say anything about the skin except "nice shade of red you got there"

Interesting dragon, it could turn into a good finished model. It is however not there yet.
Mainly the proportions appear unrealistic. eg. the brow ridge is very thin, impossibly so. a menacing creature would have a stronger, thicker brow suitable to its aggresive nature. the jaw floats strangely, in that it becomes larger as it moves away from the face. such things as the beard like thing on its chin are not so much the problem as the area just in front of the eyes is. The way it dips down just before going back up for the remainder of the beak denies that there is any bone structure in the normal sense there. this is okay for cartilage masses like a nose because the weight is not much and the material is springy, however a jaw/beak like this should be stiff and powerful. Finally the cheek area lacks bone structure, becoming a bit of an amorphous mass.
My apologies if i came across as harsh, you have a good thing going but it is still WIP.

What is a good suggestion for modeling scales???

i think with the right texture and a good dose of bump map you can get away without modelling the scales.... actually modelling them would be a terrible pain in the arse.

I think the eye area needs more detail - the edges need an obvious inward curvature and eye lids could help. Also I don't like the way his snout turns downward so dramatically towards the end. The shape of the mouth, also, could use more detail. It's too simple of a curve, imho. And those teeth are a bit too uniform. Try adjusting the spacing and the angle of each of those teeth by just a bit, and maybe making the color more yellow. I think thicker upper teeth would be more appropriate, too. Those thin ones look more like whale teeth.

All in all I think it just needs more TLC. Keep at it! :wip:

Looking better, but the texture still looks like the plastic my He-Men were made out of when I was little.

Is this going to be a cartoon-like dragon or is it going to be realistic. If you're going for realism, the eye is gigantic, might wanna think about downsizin' it.
