View Full Version : snow or rain with particles

In 3dstudio max im familiar with this, its simple to set up etc.
How can I do this in Maya with a field connected to it, i cant seem to get it to work like in max..
Help would be appreciated.

u can't get it like in max u can do it much more better with amazing control, bind to your particles gravity and turbulence fields and play with the various turbulence attributes until u get it done, unfortunatlely u need to be good at mell script to gain much of the particles in maya.
btw do u know that u can create amazing and realistic rain and snow with maya paint effects!!

thanks for the advice, I allready tried to make an emiter, then add a field to it, but it didnt seem to go as normal windy rain...:(
Ill play more with that...and ill find out how u can do it with PFX.
Any tutorials on that?

You could make a nurbs plane or poly plane and make it an emitter. Have it emit streaks. You can adjust the settings for them, maybe add a length expression. You can tilt the plane however you want to give it that angled wind blown look too. or once again add afield to it!

paint effects rain: there is a default rain brush, jsut paint a stroke on the ground plane. The gap spacing adjusts the amount of rain that falls.
