Great choices. I love them all. I like Warcraft art winner's the best.
Though I'm a bit disappointed no 3D game models won the grand prize in their respective theme category (makes me wonder if they ever had a chance considering 2D paintings done by the professionals usually stand out more based on the submission criteria)

Im impressed with all the winners-although I do think that some of the runners up are a little stronger than the grand prize winners.
I would love to see a library of all the best pieces tho (top 100?).

Nice stuff and congrats for the winners.
Im a bit confused by the wow 3d environment winning entry, very basic and cheesy, but perhaps its in the ingame wow style that impressed them.
Is it just me or are the cinematics just still images?
Interesting choices on many of them, but good stuff all round.

They are still images but those models were made for cinematic purposes, not in game.

Leading the horde is definately my favourite pic. When I saw it on CGtalk I was going to trash my entry :D

Great work. But i have to agree with Ravis. A bit disappointing "content" wise. A pity that such great ideas like the little tauren girl from the game art forum are not among the winners.

Great entries overall, but some of the winners were definately confusing? Warcraft Grand Prize? Fairly simple and boring subject/ composition and very weak use of color... I guess I'm not the one handing out 10k though.

Yeah, that 2D diablo work posted above is amazing, I saw it on CA.org and almost trashed my entry.
Either way, I had fun, this contest made me produce my best work to date IMO.
I'm going to post my entry in the gallery here, but you can see some of the WIP and concept art I did for it here:

I really want to see more art entered into the contest. Someone suggested a top 100... or maybe Blizz can post it in their fanart galleries. It really is a shame because I'm sure there are other great entries which didn't win.
There were a couple warcraft 2D painting of an environments here on cgtalk which were off the hook, amazing color and details. One was a forest scene with dryads and the other was a orc keep viewed from above, great angle. Apparently the artists weren't eligible because of location... such a shame, those were winning type entries. I know Blizz has constraints on giving out the prizes but it really is a shame, hope they clear it up in the future and they'll get much more entries. I think Linda was going to enter until she realized she wasn't eligible.
