Displacement (MTD)
The Displacement (MTD) has been changed and optimized a great deal in SP2. It is likely that you will need to adjust older scenes to meet the new criteria that have been added to SP2. finalRender Light Tag
Photometric Lights (IES) are fully supported now by finalRender Stage-2. IES lights are Great and offer a huge advantage when it comes to photo realistic lighting in a 3D scene.
To learn more about IES lights and the new options click HERE (http://www.finalrender.com/products/feature.php?UD=10-7888-35-788&PID=53&FID=547).

Max Shadow Bounces
A new shadow bounce control has been added to offer even more depth control over the raytracing engine. It lets you define how often a shadow ray is allowed to bounce around in a scene and how long it will be followed.

Scene MSP changes
Changes have been made to the Raytracing Accelerator settings. Scene MSP is now much more optimized for high polygon count scenes and it offers a much more robust and faster raytracing acceleration than before.

Hi there!

Yes, fR SP2 DOES take into account C4D R10. You shouldn't have any problems. The Sp2 installer will work with R10.

Thanks!

Now that SP2 has shipped, we will be devoting more time to Mac and Module support.

Thanks

but Stage-2?

Stage-2 is in also currently in development for 3dsmax. Stage-1 R2 will have many of the advantages of Stage-2 while still keeping its large compatibility with the many 3dsmax plugins. This is more difficult to do with at stand-alone renderer (like Stage-2) but a stand-alone render has many other advantages :)

Thanks
Michael

I tested a simple hair scene (hair on cube), there was 10.000 hairs - 12 segments per hair - hair generated poly´s and render was really very fast and nice... I plan other tests, but I believe, that there is a chance to render polygon hair with fR without problems...

I tested a few very complicated C4D shaders too, fR does not work with Falloff, for example, but translation works really very nice in 85%. Great work!

Thanks Michael, well that's a good start - but can you give us something more definitive to hang onto? What does "devoting more time to the Mac and Module support" actually mean?
1 developer, 2 developers, 3 developers, more? An hour a month? A week? A day?
We're gagging for it!!!
Cheers.
