Is it possible to see a higher res pic? looks quite nice from what I can see. I also see you're using geocities, if you want to link it from there, just change the .jpg extension to .txt that should still work :)

Hey I can host your pic for ya if you like. I can handle up to 2 gig in transfer and I really don't think it would go very close or over that amount in bandwidth.
If you are interested lemme know.

Why do some people not accept that you can paint form your head?
Excellent painting, love the atmosphere and the shaft of light through the clouds :)

The 'source' of the image ? Basically it started as a doodle, which I worked up over 3 or 4 days, off and on. I've done stuff before where I've montaged bits of photos and then painted into the composition, but with this one I wanted to paint it 100%. I dug out reference for how snow 'looks' etc but nothing in this is a copy/sourced from anywhere else.

Love the lighting!!!
I think the house is painted really well, as are the trees and snow.
My only crit is that the lightsource is confusing, the scene looks like it is in moonlight but those shafts of light through the clouds imply a bright sun - I've never seen the moon do that!!
I would have gone with a full moon behind some thin clouds to be consistent with the lighting.
However there is always room for artistic license, and if you feel that it's about atmosphere rather than accuracy then why not :)
Great piece nonetheless.

Really great work!
you know what I like most about this,
it almost tells a story about this environment.
makes me think about how freaked i'd be if i was trolling around the wilderness and came upon this.
now why didnt you do this around october!??!

The scene is a bit... flat, but the painting job is very good! I like it very much!:bounce:

Beautiful, it kinda tells a story. I love that there is a light on in the attic 8) This painting is very good for many reasons most i couldn't put into words 8)

i love it, the only thing that bothers me is the line of trees... for some reason...it looks odd. the rest is unbelievable.

Wonderful peice, but maybe the light coming from the house could be a bit brighter, and possibly a few more windows with lights turned on inside would add a better atmosphere :)

I love everything about it, I love the light coming through the clouds, and just the generally feeling of "cold" you captured. Very very nice indeed! But I won't necessarily call it a matte finish, but more in the lines of concept art. Can't wait to see more of your work here ;)
